Lavolta, an adventurous ensemble of Devon musicians, gave their debut performance on 1st November 2015, at Exeter Phoenix in the Voodoo Lounge.
Showcased for possibly the first time in Exeter, Lavolta were proud to present two outlandish and extraordinary pieces of 20th century music. The first was 'Folk Songs’, a song cycle composed by Italian composer Luciano Berio, paying tribute to the artistry of legendary American singer, Cathy Berberian. The second work 'Façade 2’ by William Walton was also inspired by, and indeed dedicated to the same singer, Berberian, who was one of the first performers of the work.
